Inside Milan’s Fashion Market Hub SS'19

During Milan Fashion Week, the Fashion Market Hub is Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana’s showcase of the country’s emerging design talent.

It should come as no surprise, given Italy’s position as the world’s leading producer of handcrafted and bespoke design, that Milan Fashion Week is a mecca of sorts for footwear and accessories designers across the globe.

Despite being home to the most established fashion houses in Europe — Fendi, Gucci, Prada and Versace among others — Milan is becoming a hub that attracts emerging talent, who look to capture the attention of press and buyers during fashion week, while taking advantage of the country’s fabled manufacturing and rich heritage.

In partnership with ORDRE, Camera Nazionale Della Moda (CNDM) has invited 13 local and international designers to showcase at the Fashion Hub Market in Milan, with the opportunity to present in the physical showroom and online through ORDRE’s digital showroom.

Unbridled by tradition and full of the confidence, the 13 labels are showing their adventurous, conceptual and ethically conscious collections. Fase Factory, designed by Flavia Grazioli, is a sustainably minded street wear label native to Milan, while international inclusions like Pardo Hats and FakbyFak bring their forward-thinking accessories labels to the event. Joining them are Cora Bellotto, Chakshyn, Dhruv Kapoor, Michele Chiocciolini, Irma Cipolletta, Bav Tailor, ALESSANDRAMICOLUCCI, BAMS, Nico Giani and Sindiso Khumalo.

This season, the Woolmark Company is also presenting a selection of the work created by the International Woolmark Prize finalists from 2018/2019. The 12 labels, like Australia’s Albus Lumen, Brandon Maxwell from the US, Yohei Ohno from Japan and Daniel W. Fletcher from the UK, were challenged to create a collection using merino wool in an innovative and ethical manner. Their works will be on display at the Fashion Market Hub until September 24.
