ORDRE PRESENTS: DIRECTIONAL DESIGNERS IN A LIVE PARIS SHOWROOM
With Paris Fashion Week presenting the best of Iocal and international talent, ORDRE has rounded up some of the most influential designers to show in a LIVE digital showroom in the Marais. Expect an eclectic selection of labels including whimsical collections by Angel Chen and MINJUKIM; sculptural and empowering designs from Freya Dalsjø, Patricia Padron and J.H. Zane; artisanal footwear by GOYA and distinctly crafted jewellery by Paula Mendoza.
Angel Chen’s collections are saturated with character, colour and technical detail. The Central Saint Martins womenswear graduate hails from Shenzhen, China and creates multifunctional unisex pieces, which are layered with cultural references from around the globe, expressed through iconic symbols, traditional motifs and original illustrated embroidery. Textural clashes and mish-mashed prints are the label’s trademarks, which are enhanced by meticulous hand-crafted detail, boundary-pushing fabrics and experimental designs.
South Korean-born Minju Kim is a multi-talented designer with a flair for both art and fashion. The designer infuses her signature illustrations onto hand-made textiles, which often reference modern art, fables and animated superheroes. Obtaining a Masters degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, her collections are rich in colour with youthful shapes and delicate feminine frills.
Copenhagen-based Freya Dalsjø revitalizes heritage techniques with an avant-garde approach to the design process. Having graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in Antwerp, the designer creates collections that are deeply creative with a strong conceptual backbone. Often challenging the boundaries of materials, the body and conventional aesthetics, the label’s look is sleek and sophisticated; at times minimal, thoughtfully abstract, and highly unexpected.
Madrid-based Patricia Padrón manages to drape and structure a garment with the same sensibility as a sculptor carving from marble. Her pieces read as works of art, though the designer still manages to keep an impressive level of wearability, freshness and femininity to each collection. Her background in architecture is telling of her original creative designs and precision constructs, which are rooted in craftsmanship, delicate fabrics and playful proportions.
A highly underrated talent, J.H. Zane is a London-based label with a forte in balancing feminine and masculine silhouettes. Helmed by Creative Director Juhao Zeng who originates from Dongguan China, JH.Zane speaks to a confident, stylish and empowered woman, and is determined by fresh textures and classic cuts with bursts of surprising elements. Each piece is fluidly layered, draped and sculpted around the female form, relaying an elevated wearability.
Kimberley Tecles-Byrom is the creative juice behind the GOYA brand, which has founded its soaring success on the simplicity of a single design: the traditional Menorquina shoe. Worn for more than a century among Spain’s Mediterranean islands, GOYA has reimagined the unisex footwear staple for the modern arbiter of style. Artisanally crafted from premium leathers and materials from the region of Alicante, the label delivers a staple sandal that has found a solid footing as a quality essential.
Paula Mendoza’s jewellery designs speak volumes to boldly creative and authentically chic women. Based out of New York City and produced from raw materials hand-picked from her native of Colombia, her standout creations are timeless but idiosyncratic, placing her firmly amongst the crème de la crème of the contemporary jewellery scene.
Housed in a charming Haussmann style galerie, the space will be transformed into a digitally elevated showroom environment, where buyers will have the opportunity to experience the collections with 360° view, Virtual Reality and a range of other advanced ORDRE developed technologies.
ORDRE LIVE showroom will be open to the industry 9am-8pm, from the 30th September - 4th October at 123 rue de Turenne in the 3rd arrondissement, with a daily aperitif 5pm - 8pm.
