Budapest-based initiative Société Fashion launched its first Fashion Accelerator Program in New York City, providing an international platform for exceptional emerging designers from the Central European fashion scene. The initiative, which prides itself on being a community championing creativity, culture and fashion, intends to inspire younger generations to utilize their creativity and talent to their fullest potential, with the new program acting as a solid launch pad.
In an effort to help foster success within international markets, the year-long program - including business mentoring, media coverage and networking opportunities - offers professional creative environments and guidance to a select few of the most promising fashion creators, hand-picked by a judging panel of industry expert. “One of the goals of our initiative is to provide the designer community with resources and skills inevitable in a global retail market of the future” says Martyna Panczak, Head of Société Fashion.
The selection committee - consisting of Founder of Fashion GPS and President of Launchmetric, Eddie Mullon; Fashion Photographer, Frederic Pinet; Executive Vice President of the CFDA, Lisa Smilor; Publisher of the Daily Front Row, Mark Tevis; Head of Société Fashion, Martyna Panczak, and ORDRE’s very own USA Director, Stephanie Kirtley - will choose six winners from a shortlist of twelve designers on the 8th of June in Spring Place, NYC.
The following day, the winners will be announced during a launch event at concept store Bulletin Soho - often frequented by the city’s top tastemakers and influencers. The store will also host a two week Société Pop Up Store, where customers will be able to shop the standout collections from the designers. One of the winning designers will also be selected for an exclusive prize by ORDRE (a partner of Société), which will offer a range of their services to promote their wholesale collections globally throughout the duration of the program.
The twelve shortlisted designers include Hungary-based Kata Szegedi, Jurekka, Grandpa, Tomcsanyi, Rienne Creations and Inq; Poland-based Bodymaps and Blessus by Michael Hekmat; Czech Republic-based Jiri Kalfar, Laformela and Odivi; and Buffet, who hail from Slovakia.
