Since debuting her summer holiday concept store, Koibird in London earlier this year, Belma Gaudio has been steadily building her empire. Now, she returns with a winter vacation counterpart.
The boutique itself is a feast for the eyes, from the merchandising (Anna Burns designed the fit-out) to the hand picked curation of labels. The brand mix is largely UK exclusives — with whom Koibird participates in brand collaborations — mixed in with compulsive European finds. Brands include well-known technical ski brand Fusalp and exclusive après-wear by the likes of Ienki Ienki. The store's imaginative interiors are Instagram-friendly, with a hands-on, interactive approach to visual merchanising.
In this video interview, Gaudio reveals new expansion plans for Koibird’s business, including a soon-to-launch e-commerce platform. It's an avenue which Gaudio believes is part of the brand’s — and yes, Koibird is as much a brand as a retailer — natural progression.
Below, ORDRE chats with Gaudio and takes a closer look at Koibird's product curation.
