Never failing to create elegance and drama, Toni Maticevski’s collections are often defined by creative draping and razor-sharp tailoring. This season, the Melbourne-based designer has the social butterfly in mind, emphasising volume and texture on statement dresses and evening wear.
Since debuting at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney in 2002, Maticevski has steadily gained recognition worldwide, and now the brand is stocked in over 35 countries globally, with over 100 points of sale including Lane Crawford, Selfridges, Harrods, and Bloomingdales.
In this interview, Maticevski reveals he is keen for the brand to evolve: next season he will introduce bags and accessories to accompany his garments, an expansion which he suggests is part of the brand’s natural progression.
Below, Kirsten Lock chats with the designer and takes a closer look at the collection.
